Abu Dhabi | Meow Cafe

Meow Café is Abu Dhabi’s first cat café and is the ‘pur-fect’ place for kids to learn how to interact with cats including to play, groom, feed and pat them.

How To Book

You can book in person at the register once you arrive at Meow Café.

When To Go

Open daily 8am – 10pm.

Costs Involved

When you walk into Meow Café, you will enter the café section first. Once you’ve paid for your entry into the cat section, a staff member will carefully open the door to their cat section, so none of their cats walk into their cafe.

You only pay entry for the cat section of this café which costs per hour:

· 13 years old and above AED45

· 12 years and under AED35

· Children under 2 years old are free

It’s also important to note that children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult, so adults in this situation will need to buy a AED45 ticket on top of their children’s entry fees (up to 2 children permitted to enter with 1 adult).

Therefore, if 2 children under 10 years old and 1 adult enter this cat café, it will cost a maximum of AED115 (but will be less if any of your children are under 2 years old).

You can also enjoy sitting at the cafe part without paying entry to interact with the cats (as you can see them through the windows in the cafe).

How To Get There

Meow Café is located right in front of the beach on Al Muneera in Abu Dhabi.

Click on Google Maps here for their exact location.

There is underground car-parking available on Al Muneera for anyone visiting any of the cafes, restaurants or businesses.

Tips For Your Visit

Meow Café have some rules regarding how you interact with their cats, so it’s best to follow them to ensure that you and their cats have an enjoyable time. Their cat rules are:

· Do not jump, run or yell at me. I get scared easily

· Do not offer me food. I eat specific food at specific times

· Do not pick me up. Not all of us like being picked up

· Be gentle while you’re touching me

· Do not put a flash camera at me

· Use the blanket so I can climb onto your lap

Of course, it depends upon the personality and mood of each cat and vice versa about your personality and mood, as to whether each cat wants to interact with you or not.

Whilst we were there, none of their cats bit, scratched or was aggressive with us, but we really tried to be gentle with all of the cats and treat them all with kindness.

As all of the cats really enjoyed Thomas’ company, he learnt how to groom and feed them, which doesn’t always happen in your session.

There are no bathrooms available inside this café, so you’ll need to walk outside to the public toilets. There is a family bathroom with nappy changing facilities inside these toilets.

What To Expect

Meow Café serves hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks. This is their current menu as of June 2023:

Staff at Meow Café set timers during your visit, so you won’t need to remember when your session has started or ended.

There are around 15 cats inside Meow Café every day, so there is always lots of cats to interact with. Don't worry, Meow Cafe is pur-fect for adults too!

There are lots of toys for the cats to play with or for you to use when playing with their cats.

Thomas really enjoyed playing with their toy mice.

We loved how these cats had a lot of nooks to explore or even hide inside!

During your hour session, some cats might be sleeping, so you can turn your attention to some of the other cats who might be more in the mood to play you.

One of their staff members, Mukia, not only had a lot of knowledge about these cats, but she provided Thomas with some colouring-in crayons to draw with whilst he was inside the cat section.

Mukia also gave Thomas some colourful plastic building blocks to play with, which he really enjoyed sorting and stacking.

You can get to know about some of their cats before your visit, by clicking on the Feline Family section on Meow Cafe's website.

Otherwise, they have a small booklet inside their cat section for you to read about all of their cats.

The Verdict

We really appreciated how well these cats are looked after, as they go for monthly check-ups and grooming sessions.

Thomas had so much fun after during his first hour, that we enjoyed a drink in their café after our first hour and then went straight back in for a second hour!

Whilst quite a few cats were sleeping at different times throughout both of our sessions, we didn’t feel bored at any stage during our visits.

Thomas even learnt how to help collect loose cat hair with their lint roller. Thomas didn’t pick up much hair though (and we didn't find any cat hair on our clothes afterwards), so Meow Café was really clean inside their cat section.

Thomas absolutely loves cats, so he’s super keen to visit this fun café again soon!

Sounds like fun? Don’t just take our word for it, experience it for yourself.
