Tips For Your Visit

The Abu Dhabi’s Children’s Library can get quite busy during the afternoons, so mornings can be a lot quieter, especially if your children want quiet reading time.

To access the Children’s Library, you can walk up the flight of stairs at the entrance of the Cultural Foundation or take one of the two (2) lifts.

Once you’re inside and you want to access the 2nd level of the Children’s Library, you can also use the stairs as part of the Book Mountain area or the internal lift nearby.

You’ll need to leave prams outside the doors of the Children’s Library and at most of the creative spaces, children and adults will be required to remove their shoes, so it’s a good idea to wear socks on the day.

Children are entitled to a free library card, once an adult signs up for membership.

New membership registration can be completed online through the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library here.

There is also an online library, should your children want to access their multi-media and extensive resources, in the comfort of their own home.

You won’t be able to consume any food or drinks in the Children’s Library, but there is a great café called Wild & Moon nearby at the entrance of the Cultural Foundation.

What To Expect

There are so many different creative spaces at the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library for children to explore.

On the first level (as you walk in), you’ll see ‘The Dunes,’ where children can walk over the soft dunes, read in one of the many nooks or climb into the Land Rover.

After your children have finished in this area, there is a majlis like seating area suitable for some quiet reading.

Then there is the incredible ‘Book Mountain’ space, which has some paper-mache animals on display and different levels for children to enjoy reading their books.

Children can choose and collect their books from any of the shelves in the Children’s Library.

The books most suitable for younger babies and toddlers are located right next to the Book Mountain and allows for children to be able to reach for their own books.

This area is filled with great reading spots, including in the private ‘Reading Nooks’ space.

The ‘Toddlers Area’ has some fun toys/activities and is the perfect place for you to read with your children.

There are some open reading areas here too, along with a toddler’s activity wall.

One of the other main areas on level 1 of the Children’s Library is the ‘Creature Space,’ where children can learn about the environment and nature.

Tom really enjoyed seeing the aquatic animals inside the different fish tanks.

He also loved walking and balancing on the colourful cushions, outside the ‘Creature Space’ room.

Upsides on level 2, there are some swings, another car to climb onto the back of and a cubby treehouse.

Then there is an incredible alphabet floor activity area with swings.

Tom loved guessing the letters and saying them out loud.

Next ‘The Falaj’ area is another creative reading area, where children can sit inside a treehouse or sit around the oasis.

One of the other main areas on Level 2 is the ‘Comic Area Comic Frame.’

This is one of Tom’s favourite areas, as he could walk around the colourful exhibition and hide between the frames.

The adult size robot is also a great place for a photo with your children!

Finally, there are studio spaces, art workshop spaces and much more on offer at this Children’s Library, which are great for older children.

The Verdict

Children could easily spend the whole day exploring all the spaces at the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library.

It's also a great place to spend quality time together as a family.

We’ve been multiple times already and every time we do go, Tom never wants to leave!

One of the best things about this library, aside from the variety of creative spaces on offer, is that this library is suitable for children of all ages!

There are a lot of books and activities for every child to enjoy, regardless of their ages or interests.

Sounds like fun? Don’t just take our word for it, experience it for yourself.
