When To Go

Tori No Su run these classes every Sunday from 3.30pm and classes go for approximately 1 hour.

Costs Involved

This Sushi Masterclass costs AED150 per person and you can eat the sushi that you make straight after your class or take it home with you.

How To Get There

Tori No Su is located opposite the valet parking area, outside the main hotel entrance to Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers. There is also the hotel's taxi rank close to the entrance of this restaurant.

Tips For Your Visit

It's a good idea to let Tori No Su know of any specific dietary requirements prior to your class.

Classes usually cater for around six people and there are friendly wait staff and Chefs walking around during your entire class, so they can assist you with any questions you may have.

There are also bathrooms available inside Tori No Su and there is a sink near your sushi station with paper towel to wash your hands before and after your class.

What To Expect

Upon arriving at Tori No Su, you will be directed to sit at their Sushi Bar whilst you wait for everyone to arrive.

Then the experienced Chef's at Tori No Su will display what type of ingredients will be used for your Sushi Masterclass, along with where to buy these food items in Abu Dhabi and how Tori No Su prepares sushi rice and wasabi for their restaurant.

Tori No Su will also provide every participant with their full ingredients list and step-by-step instructions on how to wash & cook rice, how to make sushi rice, how to make wasabi and which stores you can buy these ingredients from.

Therefore, you won't need to make many notes (if any) during this demonstration, as you'll be able to take their ingredients list and step-by-step instructions home with you, but you are still provided with a pen just in case you do want to make any notes.

Following this brief demonstration, you will then be directed to your individual sushi stations, where the ingredients have already been prepared on the trays in front of you.

You'll also be provided with food grade gloves (which are optional to wear), a sushi knife, chopping board, cleaning cloth to wipe your knife clean during your class and all of the ingredients that you need to make your sushi.

There will be a Chef in front of you demonstrating the step-by-step instructions on how to make your sushi.

The Chefs will guide you along the way, pausing after each step, so that every participant finishes each step.

Then you will use your sushi knife to cut your own sushi and their friendly staff will bring your creations back to your spot on the Sushi Bar for you to enjoy what you've made.

You'll then be provided with free water, tea, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger to enjoy with your sushi.

Whilst the class goes for approximately 1 hour, you can sit and enjoy your sushi for longer (and even order some items off their Al A Cart menu).

Bonus: There's also some really colourful art placed around this restaurant, so see if you can spot some of them such as the French Bulldog with sunglasses below and the different Japanese neon light characters along some of the walls.

This impressive bright yellow light feature was also absolutely stunning!

The Verdict

We really enjoyed learning how to make both round and square shaped sushi, as we weren't aware that these different techniques were used by Japanese Chefs around the world.

Because class sizes are small and intimate, you really get the attention you need to create the best sushi you can and learn interesting facts along the way.

This was such a well-organised and fun cooking class. It was really nice that Tori No Su also present you with an individual Certificate of Appreciation to take home with you at the end of the class too!

It certainly makes for a unique way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends or family in Abu Dhabi!

Sounds like fun? Don’t just take our word for it, experience it for yourself.

Be inspired to start or add to your very own bucket lists.
