Abu Dhabi | Floatation Therapy @ reSTART

reSTART in Abu Dhabi offers services dedicated to post-exercise muscle recovery.

Floatation Therapy is one of their services, which utilises a sensory restriction chamber (no sounds or lights) and is filled with Epsom salt-infused water.

In fact, they use 10 inches of water, infused with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, which helps you achieve a zero-gravity floating experience.

reSTART recommends floating for anyone who’s active, would like to reduce their stress or anxiety levels and for athletes looking for performance enhancement.

How To Book

You can book a floatation therapy voucher via reSTART’s website.

Your online booking voucher for floatation therapy will remain valid for 1 year from the date it was issued to you, so you don’t have to book in straight away. You can also use your booking as a gift for someone else.

Once we paid for our 60mins float online, we contacted reSTART a few days later via connect@restart.ae and gave them our preferred booking date and time.

They also have special offers including Rookie, Pro and Champ Membership Programs.

How To Get There

For details about their location, a map, parking instructions and GPS coordinates, you can view their ‘Contact’ page on their website.

Tips For Your Visit

Only one floater is allowed per booking, so you cannot go inside one of their floatation chambers with anyone else.

Floatation therapy at reSTART is only suitable for people over the age of 18 years old too.

The water temperature in your chamber will be set around the average body temperature.

reSTART request that you remove all clothing and accessories, including swimsuits, jewellery, contact lenses and medical devices before you go inside your floatation chamber.

They don’t have dedicated lockers available, but you do have a few places to leave your valuables and clothes in your private float room, which you lock at the start of your floatation experience.

There are also no shelves inside the float chamber, so you cannot take anything inside with you. There is a towel hanging up inside your chamber though, just in case you get salt in your eyes or need to dry your hands for any reason.

What To Expect

Once you arrive at their reception, you will fill out an online contact form on their iPad, followed by signing a one-page waiver.

Then you will be directed to your private float room, which has shower facilities and amenities including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tissues, ear plugs, a bath robe and 2 towels (1 outside and 1 inside your floatation chamber).

There is also Vaseline provided, which they recommend you use on any open wounds before getting into your floatation chamber.

Their friendly staff will explain a few important things and ask you to read their float instructions hanging on the wall inside your float room.

There is a white anti-slip mat inside your floatation chamber and a couple of handles to hold onto.

There is no lock on the actual float chamber door itself (only your private floatation therapy room), so you can open or close the flotation chamber door at any time.

Once you get into your floatation chamber, there are no lights or music. It is a completely dark flotation chamber, designed to provide a distraction and stress-free environment.

What's Unique

reSTART use float chambers by Float Lab, the only company in the world certified for commercial use.

There are other companies around the UAE that offer floatation therapy in cabins or pods, where people can enjoy lights and music as part of their floating experience.

This is in stark contrast to reSTART, as this company never gave us the option to use lights or music during our session. They pride themselves on providing a unique sensory restricted chamber experience in Abu Dhabi. They told us that this enables a distraction-free environment, and they were absolutely right!

The Verdict

Being inside this type of floatation chamber might be a good idea for first time ‘floaters’ who prefer larger spaces, especially compared to floatation pods, which are smaller and offer a more intense ‘float’ experience.

We’ve tried other types of floatation therapy experiences in the past with lights and music, but the stillness of having absolutely no sensory distractions, meant that we not only fell asleep whilst floating, but we felt incredibly relaxed for the rest of that day!

Sounds like fun? Don’t just take our word for it, experience it for yourself.

Be inspired to start or add to your very own bucket lists.
